All a-Buzz in Shibden, part of the Action for Bees in Calderdale project

August 1, 2014 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Bumblebee hunt in the Shibden valley                                               Walk/training

Join Edie Jolley and Betony Atkinson on a 3 mile walk through the upper Shibden valley to hunt for some of our busiest insects – bumblebees. Bumblebee numbers are declining nationwide so come along and find out more about them and what you can do to help. You can start straight away by helping us count and record the bumblebees that live in Shibden. We’ll also be looking for the flowers that bumblebees and other insects love and maybe even spot a few butterflies. There will be an opportunity to finish the walk at a local plant nursery and show garden where you can buy bumblebee-friendly plants. Entry fee is £3 to the show garden, entry to the nursery is free. Refreshments usually available so please bring some cash with you if you want to purchase anything. Meet at outside the café in Shibden Park (car parking costs £1) 14.00.
