SUMMARY:Wildlife\, Water and Peat - A Moorland Walk
DESCRIPTION:July is a great time to get out on to the moors\, and in this walk\, led by Moors for the Future Partnership\, we will look for moorland wildlife and see the effects of conservation work carried out on damaged areas of the moor.  Since 2003 they have been working to protect the most degraded moorland landscape in Europe\, improving and enhancing the blanket bog and moorland fringe habitats.  We will look at how these improvements affect wildlife\, water\, peat and people.  Meet at 14.00 in the Windy Hill Transmitter car park (grid reference SD 98291 14168)\, on the A672 near junction 22 of the M62 (border between Calderdale and Rochdale).  The walk will take approx. 2 hours and cover a distance of around 3 miles.  Some rough terrain\, so walking boots and appropriate clothes essential.

SUMMARY:Dixon Scar Practical Day
DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Dixon Scar are a new group in the Sowerby Bridge area.  They are a constituted community led group who are aided by the Countryside and Woodlands Service.  We try to meet up for community events throughout the year and on the second Wednesday of every month depending on the type of task and who is available.
